CFM stands short for: cubic feet per minute, CFM is the airflow capacity of a range hood.

We recommend that a range hood with a minimum of 450CFM or more be installed over a gas cooktop or gas stove. If it is being installed over an electric cooktop, then any range hood over 270CFM, would be compatible.

The serial number for the range hood is located inside the unit itself either on the left or right hand side.

The serial number for the range hood is located inside the unit itself either on the left or right hand side.

Yes. Whether your current OTR is non-ducted or ducted, we offer a complete line of range hoods to effectively ventilate your cooking area.

All our Ancona range hoods and cooktops are designed for interior use only. Please kindly note that if these units are installed outdoors, the warranty will be voided.

Our line of Ancona products are made for residential usage only. Please kindly note that if these units are used for commercial usage, the warranty will be voided.

All our Ancona range hoods are made out of a 430 commercial grade stainless steel.

All of our Ancona Wall mounted range hoods are made to be ducted to the outside of the home. Recirculation kits are available for most of our chimney style models which include non-ducted carbon filters that allow you to remove most of the grease and odors that come from cooking, fumes and heat vapors. In order to protect your home, it is very important to replace your carbon filters regularly in order to trap the grease and odors.

Please note that powerful BTU gas cooking equipment such as cooktops, free standing gas ranges etc. require an outdoor ventilation ducting system.  We recommend that a range hood with a minimum of 450CFM and/or greater should be used over gas stoves.

If you have received your range hood in white or blue, it is usually a protective film cover that needs to be removed prior or after installation.

There is no adjustable switch inside the range hood in order to adjust or reduce the fan CFM's variable speed motor power.  However, you can install a recirculation kit which will reduce the CFM motor of about 100CFM

Decibels (dBA) is the objective scientific measurement of sound pressure level.   They are measured in an accredited laboratory using specialized testing equipment.

Sones are the personal subjective characteristic of sounds; the perceived sound volume or loudness that an individual hears. They are also subjective and personal to each individual’s strength of hearing and perception of sound.

Ancona does not carry a make-up kit adaptable for your unit. However, it can be purchased through any local hardware store such as Rona or Home Depot.

It would not be possible to convert a wall mounted range hood into an island range hood because the chimney for the wall mounted unit has 3 sides instead of 4 and the unit is not designed with a smooth finish all around as it is made for a wall installation.

Yes, there are instructions on how to clean your range hood under the Use and Care Information page of the manual.

Stainless steel hoods should be washed regularly with a clean soft non-scratching cloth, hot water and vinegar. Clean in the direction of the polish lines. Rinse well with clear water and wipe dry immediately. You may wish to apply light oil used for furniture polishing to emphasize its bright finish. We recommend using Weiman Stainless Steel wipes which can be purchased at your local hardware store such as Home Depot or Rona.

Wiping regularly with vinegar and warm water should protect painted hood surfaces. Be cautious about using "New and Improved" cleaning agents. Your hood is installed over hot cooking equipment. Most chemicals found in cleaning agents react with heat to loosen paint.

With a cotton swab and going in a circular motion, a product called Goo Gone which can be purchased at any local hardware store may be used to remove any glue residue.

In order to get to the interior glass of a built-in oven door, you would need to first remove the door off of the oven. After the removal of the door, you must remove two whole cover on both sides of the top of the back facing (what is facing to the inside of the oven). Then, you would need to remove 4 screws at the bottom where the door hinges are located. This way you will be able to access the glass panels. Please gently push up towards you to remove one glass layer at a time.

Our Ancona bathroom faucets do not come with a drain or pop-up drain assembly. That can be purchased through a local hardware store such as Home Depot or Rona.

The complete strainer assembly can be purchased through our website www.anconahome.com

The Ancona built-in range hood and under cabinet range hood models are made to be installed on an exterior ventilation system only and the non-ducted carbon filters cannot be adapted to these models.

Replacement filters for our Ancona range hoods cannot be purchased at a local hardware store.  They can be purchased directly through our website www.anconahome.com

Products ->Range Hoods -> Accessories Filters

Yes, both baffle filters and aluminum mesh filters are washable. The aluminum mesh grease filters should be washed in your dishwasher approximately every month depending on the amount of usage. Clean all-metal filters in the dishwasher using a non-phosphate detergent. Discoloration of the filter may occur if using phosphate detergents, or as a result of local water conditions — but this will not affect filter performance. This discoloration is not covered by the warranty. Wash often if your cooking style generates greater grease like frying foods or wok cooking. You cannot clean the non-ducted carbon filters; they must be replaced.

Baffle filters, which are used in professional style range hood products, are designed to operate longer in high grease conditions without loss of performance. Generally, these need to be cleaned with soap and water whenever the surfaces become unsightly.

You need to take the handles, pull them towards you, lift upwards and push towards the back to release them from the clips at the back of the unit.

There are 2 round carbon filters which need to be clipped onto each side of the motor, a flex tube, tie wraps/clamps and a recirculation kit box which needs to be installed in the upper chimney.

No, there is no required distance or height to use a recirculation kit.

Unfortunately, all our under cabinet range hoods are made for external ventilation only as a ductless ventilation system is not possible.

NO. Carbon odor filters cannot be washed and must be discarded and replaced. When they become noticeably dirty and have an odor to them it means they have stopped filtering the odors. It depends on the frequency of usage as well as the type of cooking. We suggest that the carbon filters be replaced regularly every 6 to 12 months.

A set of two carbon filters cannot be purchased through our www.anconahome.com website but can be purchased over the phone by contacting our customer service line at 1-888-686-0778.

Free Standing Range

The Ancona Gourmet Series Free Standing Gas Ranges are not self-cleaning units.

Please make sure to set the correct time in order for the oven to work as that is the motherboard of the unit and once the time is set, the oven will work.

Sometimes this may occur during a power outage. If your display clock is completely blank, we suggest turning off the breaker for about 5-10 minutes and then resetting it. Once the breaker is back on, the display clock should flash 12:00. The time needs to be set on the display clock as it is the motherboard of the oven and it should work again.

Yes, it is perfectly normal to see or smell a little smoke as the unit is brand new and it needs to get rid of the manufacturing residue. It should go away after a few times of usage. If the smell persists after a few days, please contact us immediately so we can assist you.

The Ancona Gourmet Series Free Standing Gas Range is not built to be installed as a slide in free standing range, however, you can slide it in but you will have a little gap between the counter top and the unit itself. In order to cover the gap, you can contact Micro-Trim for the trim kit.

Please remove the knob and you will find at the right side of the knob a brass screw. Place the screw driver that’s a bit thicker than a toothpick with a round circle inside the brass screw. Turn counterclockwise to lower the flame and clockwise to higher the flame. The flame should never surpass a quarter of an inch over the burner cap.

The Ancona free standing range takes about 10-15 min in order to reach to their ideal temperature.  Please make sure that this unit is connected the correct electrical requirement for this unit that is 220-240V/50-60Hz. We recommend that it is connected to a 50 Amp power supply.

The oven light that is needed is an E-14 25W 220-240V.

Range Hood Lights

The recommended bulbs that you should use are the 20W 12V - G4 Bi Pin Halogen bulbs. They can be purchased at any local hardware store such as Rona or Home Depot.

The recommended bulbs that you should use are GU10+C 120V 35W Halogen bulbs. They can be purchased at any local hardware store such as Rona or Home Depot.

If a range hood has halogen lights, they cannot be replaced with LED lights as the internal electrical components (transformer + circuit board) are not the compatible.

If both lights stopped working at the same time, please make sure that all the wires are connected to the transformer which is the light module (transformer) inside the unit.

The LED lights only come in a standard white brightness. However, if you are electronically inclined, a resistor can be added in order to reduce the intensity of the light. Also, an adaptable dimmer can be purchased through a local hardware store such as Rona or Home Depot which will allow you to adjust the settings of the light.

Please see the link below for the how to guide:

Towel Warmers

Ancona carries three types of towel warmers: plug in, hardwired and floor.

If you would like to install the towel warmer upside down, you can do so as it has no impact on the electrical components or functions of the unit.

When you connect the timer to the hardwired towel warmer, please make sure that the:

3 white wires go together

3 green wires go together (ground)

Black of wall wire goes to the black wire of the timer

Red wire of timer goes with black wire of the towel warmer

The heated towel rail temperatures range from 145°F to 154°F (Celsius 50 °C to 55°C).

As the temperature is already preset and cannot be changed, the unit does not come with a programmable thermostat.

You can use the set the timer in order to start and stop on the hour desired as well as the days of the week. It is a 24-hour/7-day programmable digital timer.

There is no limit to how long a towel warmer can stay on. However, in order to conserve the life expectancy of our Ancona towel warmer, we recommend that the unit be on consecutively no more than 2-3 hours at a time.

The cover plate dimensions for the timer are 4 ½ inches x 2 ¾ inches. The timer itself is 2 ½ inches by 1 ½ inches.

There is an on/off switch located on the unit that is separate from the timer. Please note that the Comfort 10S has a switch located on the left hand side underneath the bar. If the switch is red and the towel warmer is heating up after 10 minutes, the unit is working correctly. Please check that the timer is connected correctly and programmed.

Range Hood Installation Issues

Most of our Ancona range hood models come with a power cord so that they can be plugged into an electrical outlet. All Ancona wall mounted range hoods can be hardwired but by doing so, it would void the manufacture warranty.

Sometimes during transportation, the wires inside the unit will shift and might disconnect from the control panel. Please remove the filters and check that there are no loose wires coming from the control panel (where the buttons are). If there is a wire that is disconnected, this will not allow the unit to come on. Please connect back the wire accordingly and the unit should work. If not, please contact our Customer Service department by phone at 1-888-686-0778 or by email service@anconahome.com and we will gladly assist you. We are open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm Eastern Time zone.

Yes, it is normal. There has been a modification made with the damper of the Ancona elite models. The plastic dampers were recently changed to metal dampers. Those types of plastic dampers needed to be installed with the damper gasket. However, as the new model dampers are made out of metal, a damper gasket is no longer needed. The damper simply need to be screwed onto the range hood, then sealed with duct tape or aluminum tape all around in order to ensure that the air gaps are sealed. The new updated manual has been uploaded to our website www.anconahome.com

Yes, the Styrofoam located inside your range hood is only there to protect the unit as well as the motor. It would need to be removed prior to installation. If it is stuck and does not come out smoothly, it can be cut and removed piece by piece.

Our entire Ancona wall mounted range hood models come with two telescopic chimneys which allow you to adjust them to the height that is needed. We do not have one piece chimneys. The telescopic chimneys only come in a standard size and cannot be custom modified.  If any modifications are needed, we recommend that they be done by a metal shop professional in order to ensure a straight and smooth finish.

Although our Ancona wall mounted range hoods are made for 9ft ceilings, you can install our chimney style range hoods on an 8ft ceiling. Please consult the dimension sheet of the model you are interested in prior to purchasing the unit in order to confirm that the sizes are compliant. If you have enough space, you can install it using just the upper chimney. If both chimneys are needed for installation, one of the chimneys can be cut by a professional metal shop in order to fit your space accordingly.

The only units that have rear venting are some of our under cabinet models such as the Advanta Pro III and the Slim under cabinet models.

You can install the range hood using a 90 degree elbow that will allow you to vent to a hole in your wall.

There is no minimum length size tube required. However, the maximum tube length straight up towards the ceiling is 25ft.

If there is condensation, the duct size might be too long. Please keep in mind that the duct should be straight up towards the top and should not be longer than 25ft using a rigid/metal duct tube. Also, please make sure that there are no serpentines in the ducting tube as this will restrict the air flow as well as the suction power.

Our Ancona range hood models are designed to eliminate the odors and are not constructed to push air back into the home. The motor runs one way only and usually, if the air is blowing downwards is because there is obstruction in the ventilation tube. Please check if the damper on the unit is opening and closing properly.  The damper flaps must be removed in order to have a better suction power and an effective air flow. Also, please make sure that the ventilation tube is not clogged i.e rocks, leafs, dust etc.

The minimum clearance is 24 inches for installation above an electrical cooktop and 30 inches for gas cooktops. There is no maximum distance but we recommend that you do not go over 32 inches in order for the range hood to work as effectively as designed.

The type of screw used is a pin head metal screw which is 1cm long and the thickness is 3.9mm.

Range Hoods Motor & Damper Issues

An excess in sound without any shaking or squeaking sound can come from obstruction in the air flow. Please check if the damper on the unit is opening and closing properly.  If you have a damper on the outside of your home then I suggest removing the flaps from the damper at the top of the unit to have less obstruction. If you lift the lower chimney on the unit, you will find the damper and you should remove the flaps. Also please check if your ventilation pipe does not have anything that might be clogging it.

Please check if the damper on the unit is opening and closing properly.  If you have a damper on the outside of your home then I suggest removing the flaps from the damper at the top of the unit to have less obstruction and allow the airflow. If you lift the lower chimney on the unit, you will find the damper and you should remove the flaps. Also please check if your ventilation pipe does not have anything that might be clogging it.

If you still hear vibration, please make sure that the unit is installed using a rigid/metal tube in order for the range hood to have a better efficiency as well as to preserve the life of the motor. Also, by using a rigid duct tube, you will save energy.  If a rigid duct tube was used and you are still having issues, it can be that the motor is unbalanced and would need to be replaced.

If your model has been discontinued, we would need to have a picture of the connections to and from the motor in order for our technical team to check if there is a motor that can be compatible with the one on your unit.

For all our wall mounted units, Ancona does not provide the round to rectangular damper adapters. You can purchase an adapter kit that goes from rectangle to round at your local hardware store such as Rona or Home Depot in order to get the correct adapter needed for your model.

We do not recommend installing the unit on a 6 inch duct as the noise will increase significantly and the CFM power will reduce considerably. Also, over time, the motor will over work itself and it will not operate effectively as there will be a constant strain on the motor due to the difference in size of the duct work. This will reduce the unit’s life expectancy. We can suggest changing your current duct tube to a 9inch-10inch or find another model which is compatible with your duct size. We usually recommend that the unit be installed on the same size duct as described on the specifications in order for the unit to work effectively as designed. However, it can be reduced at the maximum by 1-2 inches. (Ex: Unit is 7inches and duct size is 6inches)

Yes, there is no restriction and you may do so as much as your construction plans allows you to.

Most of our units are made with a standard 6inch round duct. With the exception of some models which have a 7inch round duct (Advanta UC Chef, Pro Pyramid) and 10inch round duct (Pro Uc)

Both the Advanta Under Cabinet Chef range hood II model and the Pro UC range hood models have dual motors

Gas Cooktops

The white ignition pin is the spark module which ignites the flame on the cooktop. Whereas the gold thermocouple is the pin which keeps the flame lit. Please note that the thermocouple and ignition pin are bigger on the triple ring burner (which is located on the left hand side) than the rest of the 4 burners.

The difference between the Natural Gas Cooktop and the Elite Cooktop is simply esthetic. The Elite Gas Cooktop has rounded grates and the knobs are made out of black metal. Whereas the Natural Gas Cooktop has 90 degree edges with brushed finish metal knobs. Both cooktops each have 5 burners with the same amount of BTUs.

If you are experiencing a whistling sound coming from the back burners, please check the connection tube from the regulator to the gas line. It should not be less than 1-2ft if it is a flexible tube. If a longer connection is needed more than a 1-2ft, a rigid tube would need to be used.

If you are experiencing a whistling sound coming from the back burners, please check the connection tube from the regulator to the gas line. It should not be less than 1-2ft if it is a flexible tube. If a longer connection is needed more than a 1-2ft, a rigid tube would need to be used.

The Liquid Thread Sealant (with PTFE) that comes enclosed with the Ancona Gas Cooktop is not required upon installation. It is provided if in case any replacement parts are needed to be changed in the future such as the regulator or base of any burners, it should then be applied to those parts that are being replaced.

Please remove knob and place the screw driver that’s a bit thicker than a toothpick with a round circle at the top into the hole. Turn counterclockwise to lower the flame and clockwise to higher the flame. The flame should never surpass a quarter of an inch over the burner cap.  Please see the how to guide on how to adjust the flame in the Installation Manual.

In order to check the nozzles on the cooktop, you need to first remove the grate, remove the burner cap and then the burner ring. You will then find at the center of the burner a gold nozzle. Please verify the nozzles accordingly to natural or propane gas.

The ignition pin, which is the small sensitive white pin located at the back of each burner, might have been damaged through transportation and would need to be replaced. Please note that all Gas Cooktops now come with replacement ignition pins and thermocouples.

The thermocouple, which is the small sensitive gold pin located at the back of each burner, at times, gets damaged through transport and needs to be replaced. Also, once the thermocouple is replaced, the flame might be too low. We suggest adjusting the flame so it is higher.

Yes, it is normal because the cooktop is built with a central ignition module, so all five ignition pins will spark but only the open valve will ignite.

If this unit is recently installed, please make sure that the black burner caps and aluminum rings are placed on the cooktop prior to igniting it.  All parts of the cooktop need to be placed in order for the pins to ignite.

Yes, you will be able to manually light up the burners using matches.

For conventional electric and gas ranges or cook tops, we offer a complete line of hoods that can fit your cooking needs with features you desire. For high output gas ranges or cook tops, the minimum rate of 1 CFM of ventilation per 100 BTU is recommended.

NOTE: Always consult any applicable building codes in your area in regards to minimum and maximum air flow rates. Certian states may require additional items such as make-up air for larger CFM range hoods (typically over 300 CFM).

We do not sell the trim kit; however, it can be purchased through this retailer:

Using dish washing soap is not recommended as it is high in phosphate and will discolor the black burner caps. Also, I would completely avoid putting any parts in the dishwasher as this will expose them to the high temperature of the oven's cleaning cycle; it will only damage them more. We recommend that the black burner caps and aluminum rings are washed with hot water and vinegar (Ratio 1:1). You can soak them for about 30min, then rinse them off  and allow them to completely dry before putting them back onto the stove top. By cleaning them this way, it will prevent discoloration.

If the flames are turning yellow, it seems that the air shutter that controls the supply of air becomes clogged, restricted or shifts, the ratio of fuel to air changes. A yellow flame indicates an air deficiency in the burner.

We can suggest cleaning the black burner cap, aluminum ring and gold nozzle by soaking them in hot water and vinegar (1:1 ratio) for about 30 min. Please make sure they are completely dry before putting them back on.
